The Hill Country Wine Academy thrives on partnership and community! Let us come to your location for a private class, provide an educational benefit to your team members and clientele with satellite classes at your business, or donate Texas-grown wine that you’d like featured in our program. Submit your interest below for more information!
Private courses can be held within a 250-mile radius of our main location in Stonewall, Texas. The location is subject to minimum room requirements including adequate lighting, odor-free environment, and sufficient space for exam conditions.
A satellite of the HCWA is an alternate location for some or all of the course curricula we offer. Satellite locations may have shared instructors with our main location. They also benefit from admin-share for student registration.
Wine donations to the HCWA program must be entirely made with Texas grapes, and must fall within the styles that are used to demonstrate core ideas from our current program. We can accept up to 6 bottles of one style of wine annually, which will be used in the curriculum as determined by the program director.

A native of the Texas High Plains, ANDREW SIDES’ path in winemaking began while working at the family farm (vineyard) alongside Uncle Andy Timmons during his high school summer breaks. After earning his degree in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech, Andrew took a 9-5 job in San Antonio but couldn’t resist being pulled back toward the passion he’d cultivated for growing and making wine. In 2012, Andrew and Andy partnered with Troy Ottmers, Andrew’s father-in-law, to launch Lost Draw, a winery focused on growing and sharing wines from the Texas High Plains. Since then, the Lost Draw portfolio has expanded to feature wines from several other Texas AVAs and has captured the attention of local and national press along with many adoring fans.
